Don’t get too Wrapped up in Things This Christmas | Adorable Dog Christmas Photos

This year I wanted to be a little more intentional with my theme for Willow’s annual Christmas pictures because I really wanted to have a message along with the pure adorableness that is Willow!

This Year’s theme is “Don’t get too ‘wrapped’ up in things this Christmas!”

The reason this is so important is because Christmas really isn’t about things but often that seems to be what consumes our lives during this busy holiday season.

Instead of our minds being focused on the amount or size of the gifts we get, our attention and thankfulness should be on the one true gift we have in Christ coming down to save us! That is the true reason for the season is it not?

So often though, that is the last thing we think of or even spend time focusing on because we’ve become so consumed with things, gifts, decorations, parties, traditions, etc. and thus we become so “wrapped up”!

Sometimes we can look around and see how wrapped up we have become but don’t even know how it happened or how to become free from it. Can you resonate with me on this? It’s hard isn’t it? It’s hard to be living in a world filled with so many distractions that pull us every which way away from Christ and the beautiful message of the gospel. The message that God gave His only Son so that He could humbly come to this world to ultimately die for our sins and rise again, saving us from what we really deserve. Death and separation from God. Isn’t that love just beautiful? Christmas is the time we get to remember and reflect on this!

So this year, don’t get too wrapped up in things. It’s not bad to wrap presents, to decorate, to go to parties, etc. but know that we are always seeking something to satisfy us. As Christians, if we’re constantly being distracted and not taking time to rest, reflect, and worship God we are revealing about ourselves what our true god really is, us and our things.  As a believer, worship is not our duty, it’s our delight.  It’s not a chore, it’s our joy. No amount of perfect Canon L-glass lenses, or adorable puppy photos will satisfy us. Our wells will always run dry, but with Christ there is true living water that satisfies our souls!

Many of you know, but this Christmas will look a lot different for my family after losing my sister Adriana this fall but I know that God’s character has never altered or changed even in this difficult time and that He is still good and worthy of our Praise! This time has really put things into perspective and even though it’s hard during this particular holiday season I know that hope rooted in Christ will stand firm through any trial!

With that in mind, the Kunkel’s would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas filled with loved ones and the beauty of Christ!
