Surprise weekend in Columbus!

This weekend has filled to the brim with fun! Friday I had an engagement session in Columbus Ohio with an amazing couple, Alaina and Logan! We started the drive there when Scotty got off work and made it just in time for their session at the Short North in Downtown Columbus! They showed us this amazing courtyard with beautiful ivy growing all over! It was beautiful! Alaina and Logan were a breeze to photograph and it was really fun getting to take photos in a new location! Here are a few sneak peeks of their engagement photos!

That night Scotty thought we were driving back home but little did he know that I had a whole surprise in store for him! He has been traveling with the band a lot recently and over the course of the past month has been gone 3 weeks! He would come home for a few days in between but the point is I missed him lots! He even had to be gone for his birthday so we really didn’t get to celebrate too much. In the next few weeks Scotty will be traveling yet again for 3 more weeks with the band so I knew a mini getaway would be just the thing we needed! I secretly packed our bags and actually snuck them into the car without Scotty noticing and we were off to Columbus for the engagement session. After finishing up with their photos I handed Scotty and note that said “The fun isn’t over yet, drive to this address for a surprise awaits!” He drove to the address and in about 5 minutes we were pulling into our hotel parking lot! Scotty was so surprised and couldn’t believe that I had thought that up for us! I told him that we were going to enjoy a night in the city and then tomorrow enjoy hanging out in the city for a bit!

The next morning we were off for some fun! Our first stop was a coffee shop because obviously coffee is a must! We returned to the Short North and got some coffee at Mission Coffee Co. (so good!) and then walked down the Short North strip! It was filled with so many restaurants and fun cafes! We kept saying how much we wished Fort Wayne had one of these streets! It was a lot of fun!

For those of you who don’t know I was born there and spent my childhood there so Venezuela will always hold a special place in my heart! We ate at an adorable restaurant called Arepazo and oh was the food amazing!! I have missed it so much! We shared a Pabellon Criollo meal and each had an Arepa! I even got to talk to our waiter in Spanish and reminisce about all the beautiful places in Venezuela! I loved getting to share this side of me with Scotty! Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer, beautiful photos of downtown columbus Ohio_0017 Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer, beautiful photos of downtown columbus Ohio_0016

For the rest of the day we enjoyed walking around beautiful downtown Columbus on the most perfect day ever! We held hands and talked and laughed and just enjoyed some time together with no agenda except to be with each other! Later in the afternoon we had to head back because I had another engagement session in Fort Wayne that evening. So we started the 2 and a half hour drive home with hearts full! Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer, beautiful photos of downtown columbus Ohio_0002 Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer, beautiful photos of downtown columbus Ohio_0015 Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer, beautiful photos of downtown columbus Ohio_0003

  1. Oh my gosh, Natalie. I think the reason I like you so much is because you remind me of me! (LOL I mean that in the least conceited way possible) My hubby and I aren’t much older than you two, but you remind me of a newlywed version of Justin and me. It is so sweet to see you two enjoying your marriage so much, it was designed to be this much fun!

Also, your talent is seriously amazing. You’ve come such a long way and I love to watch you grow as a photographer.
